Hi,
The link referred to in that forum is a paid link. I am going to delete the
thread as I don't want any undue attention on it please. Thanks. If you
want to discuss more feel free to email me privately. drak@zikula.org

Drak
"Back in the USSR
In my opinion Open means open - so when you delete a thread asking relevant
harmless questions - this is not an open project anymore.
It's not harmless at all. People will report such activity then we lose.
the project costs a lot of money to run - I hope you understand."

"lose what?
I don't mind paid links but not telling the truth and deleting threads -
that I don't like "
Hi,,
I gave a reason for the link and I gave a reason for deleting the thread.
It wasnt done silently. If it's reported we lose the revenue which isnt
much anyway, but we have around 50 domains some of them very expensive
international tlds. Please have some thought about this.

"Explain to me then why it has to be a secret - using PN for years I know
that keeping things a secret starts wars and gives project managers a bad
reputation and lack of confidence - which this leaves me with (a bad
feeling - (added now))"
Once I explain you will understand why. If someone reports a paid link to
Google, they will remove reputation (PR). Advertisers buy text links based
on PR so the advertisers will then not want to advertise and in the end we
lose the advertising money.
There are people right now in the community I know will report paid links
because they just want to cause trouble. google even has a place in
webmaster tools to do it! It's really no joking matter. Read Matt Cutt's
blog on the matter (he's the Google employee that blogs on SEO).

"To tell you the truth I really don't like your way of thinking - honesty
is much easier. And if Zikula can't get the money to finance it's
activities - then close it - like it would happen in the real world"
